D.I.Y. Apartment Projects

In the chaos of moving, I still managed to set aside some time for projects to personalize the new space.  Since most of the furniture & decorations are mine, the apartment is missing a masculine touch from the bf.  I'm desperately trying to add some more neutral aspects but still beautiful pieces without loosing who i am and him.

We decided to do our first project for the apartment together and build a coffee table... surprisingly to the both of us it came out great!  We couldn't be happier :)  Now we just need legs which a friend is making for us because we would like them to be metal.
We purchased wood from a local home depot, i believe it was Douglas fir. We stained the wood with coffee and coffee grinds.  To finish it off we took a heat gun to add the unique burn marks.  The table is held together is large hex bolts and washers to give it a more industrial look.

For my next project I did it on my own.  I had some great leather picture frames but they were in incredibly bright colors.  I decided I still liked the style but wanted to make them a little more worn looking.  I white washed the frames and scuffed them up with sand paper!

Next project is shelving...i'll let you know how it goes!
